Could Robin van Persie remain at Arsenal? | PA

Great news for Arsenal if this one bears fruit. The Times report Robin van Persie is planning to snub a £200,000 a week offer from Manchester City and stay with the north London club. Some whispers, stemming even from City officials, suggested a deal for the Dutchman to head north were all but done. But with Arsene Wenger's side now resurgent, the likelihood of him remaining at the Emirates seems to have lifted.

Fulham's Clint Dempsey has 22 goals for the season, and is now predictably alerting the Premier League's bigger clubs. The in-form United States striker has just a year left on his contract, and the Gunners are the latest club linked to acquiring his services, say The Daily Telegraph.

Will-he-won't-he continues to encapsualte the future of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. The Times claim the 19-year-old Frenchman, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is no closer to agreeing a new deal at the Old Trafford club, as his agent endeavours to secure his client a move to Juventus.

Mario Balotelli got away with it thanks to those pesky kids at the FA yesterday, despite trying to amputate Alexandre Song's leg, and he may still get away from Manchester. A return to Milan - be it Inter or AC - beckons for the irascible 21-year-old, muse the Daily Mirror.

Another Premier League player under fire after an outburst of violence at the weekend is Branislav Ivanovic, who, unlike Balotelli, did not get away with punching Shaun Maloney during Chelsea's win against Wigan. Real Madrid want the 28-year-old Blues defender, who has been one of the club's more consistent performers this season, claim the Mirror.

Gone and apparently forgotten Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon - once the most expensive goalkeeper in Britain - is being touted for a return to Scotland with SPL champions Celtic interested in his services. The injury prone stopper is out of contract in the summer at the Stadium of Light.

Harry Redknapp's Tottenham are slipping again, so the one-time England managerial contender has called a team meeting ahead of Sunday's FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea, claim the Daily Express.

Not leading by example recently has been Wolves captain Roger Johnson. Dropped again at the weekend, his manager Terry Connor Wolves insisted the defender's demotion was not over his row with goalie Wayne Hennessey during the club's 3-2 defeat to Bolton the previous week, say midlands paper the Express and Star..

The Mirror claim Fabrice Muamba will be fitted with a special heart device as he bids to make a return to football, having suffered a cardiac arrest last month.

Chelsea are four points behind Arsenal - and Wenger's side have a game in hand - but Salomon Kalou remains confident they can finish above their London rivals, The Sun informs. Both teams face one another at the Emirates a week on Saturday.

Jack Rodwell, an outside bet for the England Euro 2012 squad, won't be going. He has suffered yet another hamstring problem, state the Mirror.

Miss Ian Holloway? Who doesn't? Unfortunately the Blackpool manager was warned to stop swearing by a sanctimonious fan during Monday's 1-1 draw with Barnsley, claim the Mirror. Life ban for said "fan" please.
