KFC Thailand's Facebook page featured an insensitive post in the wake of a tsunami threat

During the chaos that ensued after an earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia on Wednesday, the Thai wing of KFC has come under fire over a comment on its Facebook page.

On Wednesday, an earthquake which measured 8.7 on the Richter scale, struck the Aceh region of the island of Sumatra and prompted a tsunami threat to be raised for Indonesia and the surrounding countries, including Thailand and Malaysia.

The Facebook post, later removed and replaced with an apology, called for fans to head to the fast food chain to pick up some chicken on their way home to follow the news.

According to The New Web, the post roughly translated as saying: "Let’s hurry home and follow the earthquake news. And don’t forget to order your favorite KFC menu.”

The remark was deemed to be in poor taste, especially considering the massive devastation the country suffered during the 2004 tsunami, which killed over 200,000 (including 8,000 in Thailand) and left large portions of southeast Asia wrecked.

Following a number of complaints, the post was later replaced by a message asking for forgiveness for the ill-timed remark, which received over a hundred comments and 700 'likes'.

KFC Thailand later apologised for the "inappropriate" post.

Fortunately, Wednesday's tsunami threat was an empty one, as waves of a mere four or five inches were reported.

KFC should worry about the quality of there food before even selling it. Time and Time again the quality is the poorest I have ever seen KFC. The chicken at many locations has that foul taste like it wasn't refrigerated. The staff always look shabby and have no kitchen manors, their hair going everywhere including baking it right into the food like the KFC just off the highway leaving Pattaya. They gave us chicken from the day before which was dry and hard , in fact it could of been two days old as hard as it was. Then they put in some half cooked chicken that the doe or crust was still a bit white, and that meat tasted like it was left out. By and Large the Thai so called business owners are lucky that most Thai's eat from the street so when they eat at KFC it's like five star dinning so they couldn't tell you if the food was bad or really bad. Judging by the staff you can see the KFC of Thailand is ruining KFC's brand.
