The new film footage shows every tiny detail of the iPad being made, from the shell being plastic-coated, the battery being pressed into the body, the motherboard being added and the screen tested.

Workers alternate roles each day to alleviate boredom, according to the report.

Schmitz says: "The work is tedious and boring, but each day hundreds of epople line up to apply for jobs here (at Foxconn)."

"The supply (of workers) is continuous," according to Schmitz. "One reason is that Compared to other companies, Foxconn is considered to be one of the best.

One reason they're lining up to join Foxconn? "It pays its workers on time," says Schmitz in the report.

Schmitz has form in covering Foxconn closely. He is the reporter who revealed the flaws in Mike Daisey's account of the factory for This American Life.

His reward for the expose? Access to produce another, more positive form of publicity for the hyper popular tablet and its beleaguered maker.
