Liverpool V Everton FA Cup Semi-Final Preview: 4 Great Merseyside Derbies In The Cup (VIDEO)

WATCH: 4 Great Merseyside FA Cup Derbies

The 218th Merseyside derby will see Liverpool bid for a treble against Everton, having defeated them twice in the league this season.

However there is a twist. Despite supposed Scouse supremacy, the Reds lie eighth in the Premier League table, one spot behind the Blues now that David Moyes' side have found form in the second-half of the season after a slow start. As they usually do.

Moyes will just be delighted he isn't facing Liverpool at Anfield. He has not won on the red side of Stanley Park in 11 visits, but has sampled success in the FA Cup against the Toffees' bitter enemies.

En route to their last cup final in 2009, Everton dramatically defeated Liverpool in the 118th minute courtesy of a Dan Gosling strike at the fifth round stage.

The problem was nobody outside of Goodison Park saw it. ITV unashamedly stressed their suspect football broadcasting skills by accidentally having adverts interrupt the match. When coverage resumed, Gosling was being mobbed by team-mates and Goodison Park's roof had been lifted.

It is a rich history the two clubs share in the cup. Liverpool boast seven wins to Everton's five, with the latest Liverpudlian success coming in 2006 at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, when Steven Gerrard brought the Reds back from the dead not once but twice.

But Everton have won their last SIX FA Cup semi-finals. Southampton (1984), Luton (1985), Sheffield Wednesday (1986), Norwich (1989), Tottenham (1995) and Manchester United (2009) have came unstuck against the Toffees.

And the head-to-head clashes between the two clubs in the competition have been frenetic. So ahead of Saturday's 12:30 kick-off, we have delved into the archives for some humdingers between two of football's best enemies.

Having led but drawn at Anfield in the first match, the Toffees were touted for a famous win. But as the game wore on and penalties loomed, Pepe Reina's expertise was expected to bail out Rafael Benitez's side. Then Dan Gosling sprung up.
