Cocaine Siezed Haul Uk Border Force

Cocaine worth almost half a million pounds has been seized at an airport by UK Border Force officers.

Officials working for the UK Border Agency at Gatwick Airport in West Sussex found 12 kilos of the class A drug when they searched a woman travelling from Kingston, Jamaica, with her three children on Friday morning.

Officers found cocaine in a number of items the woman was carrying, including a cosmetic paste, a UK Border Agency spokesman said.

He added that the woman was interviewed and charged with an importation offence. She has been remanded in custody and is awaiting a court appearance, he said.

Ingrid Smith, UK Border Agency assistant director at Gatwick airport, said: "Our officers work 24/7 to keep drugs, smuggled goods and illegal immigrants out of the UK.

"We are working hard to end this terrible trade which can have such a devastating impact on communities across the country."

They should conviscate the drugs and put her and her children back on the plane to Jamaica, why should we the Tax Payer feed them. With all the drugs she brought in she could cause havoc and not to mention probably a few deaths. I bet she gets off just because she and her kids are black. Another person would spend 3-5 years in prison even more time.

Well said. My view exactly. Let the Jamaicans try her and bang her up if they want to. And her brats should have been sent back where they came from by now, air fares charged to the Jamaican Embassy.

Yes what a good idea charge the Jamaican Embassy for her return fare to Jamaica. It's about time we took a stand against these dealers of drugs, no matter where you come from.

drugs being imported?...from jamica?? well fancy that! id never have thought of trying that 1.

What's the objective of detaining the guilty at the air port? Shouldn't the bigger objective to catch the Mr Bigs? I imagine the woman is one of many in her category. Why wasn't she allowed to go, having taken evidence discreetly, and let her lead the police to Mr Big?

Yes she should have been allowed in and followed by Superman who would have rounded up all her accomplices before you put your comic down.

A half million of Coke is a bit much to lose and 'Mr Big' as you term him is deep in the shadows - this woman may have the brains of a mule but she is a major importer of a drug that corrupts children, a drug that destroys lives and families. I have no sympathy for her. If she is not a UK resident, her children should be shipped back or kept in care and she should stand trial and go away for a long time.

But she won't and she'll laugh all the way home.

"But she won't and she'll laugh all the way home." saying that, I hope you're not a prophet. Just for clarity, I'm a Jamaican and I'm against all forms of drugs abuse - even tobacco and alcohol. I'll support any attempt to rid society of drugs abuse. I've seen the damage of drugs use among the various nationalities.

My main concern, however, is the racist tone (not so much yours) that's is central to many of the comments. That doesn't help and reflects irrationality, particularly when there are so many British people travelling and live all over the world!

i doubt 'mr big' would have arrived to meet her, more like 'mr much smaller and also expendable' would have been dispatched to do the honours.

She was later put the to the front of the housing queue.

A lot of 'RACISM' on here!! I know you can't say these things out loud anymore, nor should you be able to write them......

not racism, just truth. Open your eyes.

Like it or not this seizure will finaly trigger a Plan B. George Osbourne will now have to relly on a line of Shake and Vac to put the freshness back.

Don't feel too bad for the smuggler, she is being shown a catalogue of free houses for her to chose one as we speak.

If only people who are inappropriately qualified to comment objectively above what they are able, would seize the opportunity to occupy one of the many seats in an educational establishment night class, to learn a little bit of what the British has so effectively exported - democracy and education - then they too might avoid giving the impression that evolution leads to backwardness.

I have two degrees yet I can't understand a word you say. With gibberish like that, you shuld stand as an MP.

Reading your comment, leads me to believe that you would probably have been a recipient of what this women was carrying. did you read your comment before posting? I think not.

She could be a British citizen! Britain has its criminals, including drug pushers, too. And since Australia doesn't take anyone now unless they can make a positive contribution to their society. Another prison place will most likely be booked. Maybe Britain should learn something from Australia?
06:40 AM on 04/16/2012
very true.we should take the same stand as australia then we would only have an internal problem like they do.britain doesnt have the same BALLS as australia were to frightened of upsetting the politicaly correct brigade.

09:26 PM on 04/15/2012
NO, send her back to Jamaica then serve her time, why the hell should i pay for her to languish in a British prison when O.A.P's are freezing or starving here

My estranged father went down for the same thing back in 2000. Although he is not jamaican, he did partake in drug smuggling from Jamaica to England. His stupid act detroyed the family. To this day me and my sister keep our distance. People have often asked me why I take such a harsh stance on drugs, when I have not taken any myself. Truth is you don't have to be snorting drugs to have it rob you of something, in my case a parent. I feel for her kids, because they didn't ask for this and the impact it will have on them, will stay with them forever.

No parents are English born. Grandparents from Caribbean.
