Andy Carroll's FA Cup Semi-Final Winner For Liverpool Winner Down To Hair Gel, Says Team-Mate Martin Kelly

Hair We Go! Gel The Key To Goal Hero Carroll

For Jimmy Grimble, it was a pair of tatty old boots which boosted his football ability, but for Liverpool's Andy Carroll, might it be hair gel?

Club team-mate Martin Kelly tweeted after Saturday's FA Cup semi-final win over Everton - in which Carroll scored the winner - the Geordie's hot streak has coincided with him using midfielder Jordan Henderson's hair product.

Kelly's hero:

Carroll has scored two in two since splashing on Henderson's choice of grooming gel, having nodded in the winner against Blackburn last Tuesday. He had scored just six goals in 41 games beforehand.

Henderson, 21, too has been profligate this campaign, hitting just one goal in 41 appearances.

Carroll celebrates his winner with fellow goalscorer Luis Suarez

The north-east duo, who arrived for a combined fee of £51m last year, however may be on course for a second cup win, having lifted the League Cup in February.

Liverpool face Chelsea in the FA Cup final after their weekend 2-1 win against their Merseyside rivals. Luis Suarez cancelled out Nikica Jelavic's Toffees opener before Carroll won the match in the 87th minute.
