After his election defeat, it seems Lembit Opik has not lost his appetite for a political fight.
Over the weekend, the former Welsh Lib Dem MP showed this by sensationally stepping back into the ring - literally.
While attending a wrestling match in Welshpool, Opik was dragged into the ring after getting into a fight with a 18 stone professional wrestler.
Some may find it a fitting political metaphor that the LibDem ended up being manhandled and flung about by the man in blue in front of a baying crowd - especially as he lost his parliamentary seat to a Tory. But we'll leave you to be the judge of his success from the video below.
Kade Callous, Opik's sparring partner, said this after the fight:
He later posted a video on-line, accusing Opik of behaving out of order at the match. Opik was, he claimed, "too arrogant, as he's a celebrity".
"Lembit is a fame whore who came to my show trying to take my little bit of limelight. He tried to make a fool of me. How much of a fool would I have looked backing off from this weedy old man. Lembit, you created this situation. This is your fault." Callous said.
"When you knowingly and willingly set foot in the ring. I'm going to try to hurt you. I am gonna hurt you. I want to hurt you bad. Not because I'm in any way sadistic. But because that's what needs to be done. You are not a wrestler, you are not trained to be a wrestler. You are some D-list celebrity that thinks he can make a quick buck in the world of pro wrestling, I am going to cripple you." he added.
Opik has also found time to announce his interest in becoming a police commissioner. He said he was hoping to stand for Northumbria Police & Crime Commissioner.
Carol Woods, chair of the Lib Dems regional party in the area refused to comment, saying “We are still in the process of making a decision".
