A ‘Moral DNA Test' Reveals Women Are More Honest Than Men

Moral Women

Recent research by a leading philosopher has revealed that women are more moral than men – and it's ladies over 30 who are the most honest.

The study, by professor Roger Steare, based its conclusion on a ‘Moral DNA test’ which 60,000 participants from 200 countries completed in a bid to test their moral levels.

The test was created by professor Steare four years ago and involves the participant answering multiple questions about their work and personal life, basing their answers on what others think about them.

An example of questions include: ‘People who know me well in my personal life would describe me as… compliant, ethical, caring, deferential, compassionate’ - with the response options being: ‘not at all’, ‘a little’, ‘somewhat’ and ‘very’.

The aim of the questionnaire is to measure people’s moral compass based on honesty and competency. The last section of the test labels the participant as one of six personality types: philosopher, angel, teacher, enforcer, judge or guardian.

The results revealed that women are more likely to make decisions based on how they impact others – in work and in their personal life – compared to men.

Commenting on the results, professor Steare told HuffPost Lifestyle: “We assess characteristics such as gender, age, nationality, education, occupation, religion and politics. You will see how you score against the average for human beings on three scales that measure how we prefer to do the right thing, both at work, and in our personal lives.

"You'll also see how you compare with others on 10 moral values including Love, Fairness and Wisdom and in conclusion discover if you are a Philosopher, Judge, Angel, Teacher, Enforcer or Guardian.”

Explaining how age comes into the equation, prof Steare told the Daily Mail: “What this shows is that when it comes to work men have to grow up, put their ego to one side and show some humility and compassion – qualities they all too often have in their personal lives but put to one side when they walk into the office.”

Who is professor Steare?

Steare is a ‘corporate philosopher’ who advises executives who regularly face critical decision making.

Top tips from life coach Sophia Davis.

  • Weigh Up The Pros And Cons

"Look at the situation from all angles and make a decision based all on the facts. You will find that doing it this way gives you the highest chance of the best outcome on the basis of everyone and everything involved."

  • Become Wise

"Remember that every decision will provide you with learning opportunities. Take from them what you need, and use them to your greatest advantage so that you grow spiritually and use it in your future."

  • Put Aside The Fear

"Understand that there is no such thing as a wrong decision, only a decision that was right for you at the time. On that basis, it doesn't matter what decision you make. If the decision doesn't turn out how you wanted it to, you can always then make another decision."

  • Look At The Worst Case Scenario

"Remember that even in a worst case scenario, situations can be rectified or managed if they have to be. Life is ever changing, nothing stays the same for long, so on that basis. "What do you really have to lose. Decision making can be as dramatic or easy as you make it. So realise that without 'wrong' decisions, we would never have learnt to crawl as a baby, talk as a toddler, or be blessed with electricity, air travel or phone."

  • Never Make A 'Reactive' Decision

"If the decision you are making is based on an emotional outburst or driven by emotions, it is likely to be a decision that does not necessarily support you. Try to hold of making any decisions until you are calm and thinking with a clear mind. Try to sit still with the decision you need to make and wait until the answer that feels right to you comes."

I love when stupid people (women et al) construct "studies" with no basis in reality, that doesn't follow any scientific protocols, that is absurd on it's face and construction, that isn't peer reviewed by qualified academics & professionals and who's entire purpose is: Man = bad, women = good. Ludicrous.

This hit a chord. I am an attorney, and I just had a deadbeat guy lie to me about paying creditors for the second time. Sounded so sincere . . . except I have been BS'd to so many times by men in the workplace and in my personal life that I knew to be cautious. Got me to thinking and realized I can not remember a single time where a woman has tried to BS me, only men. I really don't think they operate from the same place we do. Their motives are more singleminded to win, and win they will try to do regardless of who gets hurt. My boyfriends has truly never lied to me, but I sure have to ask a lot of pointed questions to get to the truth.

how can you measure honesty when its based on asking questions?

Another junk study with the intention of praising women and bashing men.

This study is about a valid as those ridiculous Facebook polls that ask people to see how many places on the list they've been to. It's too easy simply to check all of the boxes and claim victory, just as when rating yourself you would naturally tend to lean towards the more appropriate answers.

Always question the obvious.

The conclusion seems a bit contradictory to me. How do we know who answered the questions honestly and who did not? Suppose the men answered the questions honestly and the women did not, would that not make the women less moral?

This study is worthless, sensationalist junk, so by definition it ends up on HP. Bravo!

I think the Romans arrived at this conclusion some 2000 years ago.

Since women make up the rules as they go, how can they not be "more moral" than men?

Another study by feminists where the results were determined beforehand.

I checked out the man that performed this study, and I couldn't find any direct information linking him to feminism or feminist thinking. Just saying.

Professor Roger Steare is a member of Rights and Humanity an organization that says one of its priority issues is women's rights and empowerment.Sounds like feminism to me.

One thing that I didn't see accounted for in the test was: The ability to act immorally and successfully gain from it.

I think that would be an important aspect to consider because a person isn't actually being "more moral" if the immoral choice isn't realistically available to them. i.e. A 60 year old woman cannot reasonably expect to successfully mug someone. So her "choice" to not be a mugger isn't really a choice. For a powerfully built young man with no money, it IS a real choice. I know my example is extreme, but I hope it conveys my thought.

Did the study correct for women being better able to read other's body language, how do you account for the fact that men are worse at reading emotions and as such may answer incorrectly because of a fault in their perceptions of how others consider them and not out of some sort of dishonest impulse.
For those who doubt read The Female Brain, ladies have more mirror neurons than guys and as such are better able to understand body language (especially facial expressions).

I tell you what, my partner, sitting next to me as I type this and who is playing his zombie game, wouldn't take the time out to post anything, let alone on this subject, let alone post anything remotely resembling your remarks.

He likes being a man. I like him being a man If you asked him, presuming he could hear you over the zombie crushing, if I was a feminist, he would say yes. If you asked him what he thought of that...he would simply tell you that he doesn't get why his wife can't earn the same and why his granddaughter may not be able to in the future. He just doesn't get what all the anti-feminist hoopla is about. What's to be afraid of? He's a man...and he just said that guys who go on like you two...are hiding something small. Not very artful of him...but then...he likes to crush zombies all nite. =]] I'm gonna take his word for it. Cause I don't think he's dumb.

It needs to be weighted for subjective vs objective truth. Effusive subjective truth is completely meaningless other than intent and feelings. Objective truth, even if bent towards selfish ends is still useful as it's based in real, existing things.
