Imagine a website of just breasts. Nothing more. It’s not hard, the internet is flooded with them.
But imagine one that’s for a good cause. Yes, that’s right. You can settle down and spend a good half-hour or so (perhaps not in the office) perusing pages and pages of breasts without an ounce of guilt.
Working off the tagline “showing your breasts on the internet is good, showing them to your doctor is better”, Boobstagram is the brainchild of two Frenchmen who have painstakingly compiled thousands of Instagrams of women's bosoms.
Boobstagram founders Julien GLT and Lionel Pourtau say they tried to create a fun prevention campaign “when most campaigns use fear”. It strives to “avoid the pitfall of moralism” and “be heard in the public arena overwhelmed with messages”.
Well, wall to wall breasts is certainly one way of achieving these aims.
Literature on the website adds: “By using this approach and targeting young people, those most comfortable with new technologies and most comfortable with unconventional messages, we attempt to raise awareness amongst those who must change their behaviour today, in order to changed their future tomorrow.”
Although National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is in October, the official website advocates all efforts to “raising awareness and educating individuals about breast cancer throughout the year.”
Does Boobstagram get the relevant message across? What do you think?

A "landmark" study that divides types of breast cancer into 10 new categories could change the way the disease is treated forever, scientists said today....
All this does is further fetishize breasts -- it does NOTHING for women's health issues. Our culture is in a pretty sad thing right now. More objectification, body part focus, male gaze, and exploitation in which women willingly participate. Worthy of despair for anyone who loves women as whole people.

I like this campaign and I like some of the pictures more and some less. Why not show those boobs to say yes they are nice, love them, take care of them, check them regularly after period etc. I am not sure if it works to show breasts which are sick or had an operation to rise awareness of the disease. For this you can go to "health web pages" I personally as a woman prefer this campaign more as I can imagine worse things and this is enough for me to going into "care mood" for myself. And if a man likes those pictures this is fine with me.
I've looked at the site and there are no boobs, only photos of different types of bra. The site ought to be called 'brastagrams' and not 'boobstagrams'.
mrjohnbrazil: I've looked at the site and there are no boobs,
Who came up with this idea for nothing but pictures of boobs on a website???? Oh yes, that's right - a couple of men!! This won't raise breast cancer awareness at all - it will just create another site for the 'nudge nudge, wink wink' brigade. It's an insult to women everywhere and especially to those who suffer from breast cancer.
fabworld123: Who came up with this idea for nothing but pictures
I totally agree. Breast cancer is not only suffered by women, yet I fail to see any pictures of male chests in this 'awareness campaign'. This website is just a vulgar exploitation of a potentially fatal illness.

Rather than ogling bosoms, it is more helpful to remind women that raising their blood levels of Vitamin D will reduce the likelihood of metastasis, ie the cancer spreading to other organs, by 800%. It is this metastasis which kills them, and not the primary growth. The suggestion, backed up by all the science you need, is to take at least 5000iu per day. This is cheaply obtainable online. Alternatively, go out in the sun for as long as it shines. In addition, the tocotrienol form of Vitamin E will also massively impact the condition in a positive way. Turmeric is also extremely protective.
You will not be given this life saving information by the various charities, as there is more money to be had from allowing BC to continue than there is in curing it.

Completely agree Gina... maybe we should start 'dongstagram' and claim it's for testicular cancer. Or 'bunstagram for prostate cancer... on second thoughts maybe not!

I'd love to post photo of my 'bosom's, but sadly I cant. I lost a breast due to cancer 10 years ago, but thanks to scientific break through, the surgeons expertise, my family's love and support and my own will power, I AM STILL HERE!! Despite the odds given to me at the time that I had a 85% chance that it probably return within 5 years and kill me!!
Ladies are not the only ones affected 1 in 300 men get breast cancer also so, be warned, be aware!!
It would be great if the photos depicted male breast too to highlight this fact!!

Do you know that Brest cancer is not just for woman as me can get it believe it or not. Some cancer is only can be got by men such as testicular cancer and some women only get cervix cancer. All cancer awareness is needed
Robwillh: Do you know that Brest cancer is not just for
ladylynchmere you really are a sick woman indeed coming up with comments like that. There is a time and a place. What do you mean tissues...to wipe the tears away from laughing so much at your sick comments.

These two men don't really seem to have a clue, nearly all woman would check their breasts for lumps, i don't think a website full of woman's breast that obviously do not have breast cancer is going to encourage more woman to check them selves, I for one would not find this encouraging, and if you were a woman with breast cancer you would not find looking at other woman's breasts that don't have very encouraging at time when you are trying to come to terms with something that is going to change the way your breast will look for the rest of your life and the fact that you may be loosing a breast is not going to be made any better just by looking at these pictures, i can guarantee that you will get comments on here regarding who's are best and what some people would like to do with these breast, this will just show what these sort of site attract these days, its a shame as this is such a serious issue and is always tuned sexual

I feel exactly the same. Why would I want to look at other women's breasts to remind myself that I have got a pair of my own? Call me old fashioned but I've always disliked Page 3, Wet T-Shirt competitions, Rear of the Year et al and now National Cleavage Day for god's sake! I reckon there's a higher risk that it will continue to make those who are less endowed feel inadequate and plastic surgery obsessed.
