Down-at-heel fishery expert Dr Alfred Jones (McGregor) is summoned to make the ambitions of a rich Sheikh (Amr Waked) come true, namely bring salmon fishing to his native Yemen. Along the way, he meets the lonely Harriet (Emily Blunt), and more than plans begin to flourish in the exotic surroundings of the Sheikh's home.

What follows is a mixture of whimsical romance, teamed with political satire and an element of aspirational dream-making.
