David Gilroy Jailed For Life For Lover Suzanne Pilley's Murder

Cameras Capture Moment Gilroy Is Handed Life Sentence For Lover's Murder

David Gilroy has been sentenced to serve a minimum of 18 years in jail after he murdered his former lover Suzanne Pilley but the mystery of where he dumped her body remains unsolved.

Following a successful application by broadcaster STV, cameras recorded judge Lord Bracadale telling Gilroy his fate.

Gilroy lured the bookkeeper to their office basement on 4 May 2010, after discovering she had spent the night with a new lover, and murdered her, it was revealed.

After murdering her, he drove Pilley's body 85 miles from Edinburgh to Argyll on the pretence of checking a school his firm was overseeing.

Despite openly denying any involvement in the murder to members of the press, Gilroy was eventually caught out after detectives pieced together his suspicious movements in the days after Pilley's disappearance.

It is believed she is buried in rural woodland in a remote part of Lochgilphead, west Scotland but to date, Gilroy has ignored pleas from Pilley's family to reveal the location.

After Gilroy's guilty verdict was delivered, his former lover's family released a statement saying: "Suzanne was a proud Scot who led a full life. Although the trial has ended our ordeal goes on and we hope one day we can lay our daughter to rest."
