Labour peer Lord Alan Sugar has told Londoners not to vote for his party's candidate in the mayoral election, despite him having the backing of the party's leader.
"I don’t care if Ed Miliband is backing Livingstone. I seriously suggest NO ONE votes for Livingstone in the Mayoral elections," he wrote on Twitter.
"Sky doing live Mayoral interview with candidates at 8pm today Johnston v Livingstone is real issue. Livingstone must NOT get in on 3rd May," he tweeted to his 1.9 million followers.
The star of The Apprentice also dismissed suggestions that he should take on the role himself.
"It's been suggested I run for Mayor. Not possible, too many commercial conflicts, no time, more to the point I would not know where to start," he said.
"The reality is carry on doing that and these people will go and get a job in a different type of company where the culture of paying bonuses is not frowned upon," he said.
"Pay peanuts and you will get monkeys," he said. "Change the record, start to install some confidence in the market place."

As tasks go, forcing this group of self-styled 'business brains' to come up with gym session ideas was a bit unfair. After all, these are people who can barely cope with flogging ironic vintage tat to hipsters, which as challenges go is approximately 110% easier than convincing a dog to eat a Winalot sandwich.
Thus with declining ratings for The Apprentice, and an ever fading authority on his subject matter, perhaps it's high time that m'Lord quit whilst he's still ahead, since perhaps it'll be him who'll be "finished, gone, kaput" by next Christmas.
I agree with lord Sugar, Unfortunately the political system fails to recognise the electorates right to vote no confidence in any party.
There should be another box "NONE OF THE ABOVE".
So what do we end up doing, not voting simples.
But this misses the point we would be better submitting blank ballot papers.
At least they are still counted as no vote but its the only option to say none of the current hypercritical parties.
Labour were too soft probably true; Tories go way out the other way also true.
The Tories had a chance to reform our taxes, what do they do, site around drink lots of tea spend thousands debating nonsense then tweak the current out dated system.
Leaving the middle earners in more ____ than they were when the banks dumped us in it.

He may be correct about Livingstone, but is anyone else fed up of this arrogant, opiniated little barrow boy, Sugar? He's a loathsome, walking stereotype, IMHO.

There is a simple reason to reject Livingstone. He is a hypocrite & a supporter of terrorists who would bring their evil to the UK, as well as destroying the lives of innocent people in Israel. His past behaviour, in supporting Muslim extremist preachers, should mean the Labour party & its leadership should not be have endorsed his candidacy in the first place.

Why does London, or any other city, need a mayor? The position is usually occupied by some failed politician who sees another opportunity to get their snout in the trough. The main political parties in the UK are run public school types who have never had a real job in their lives. Mummy and daddy left them the estate and they are millionaires who have never done anything except fiddle their expenses and flip their houses in their lives. Is this the type of person that you want to represent you?

i seriously suggest no one votes ever again in this country, whilst germany rules europe, while we still have globilization, and usa under the guise of un dictate to the world.Bring back people participation, people know better than politicians,re-natiolize,and stop de.regulizing the banks,we want a loving and caring society, free to express

"It's been suggested I run for Mayor. Not possible, I would not know where to start,"
Apparently that's not a criteria for the position your lordship!
I suggest not voting for either of them, in fact, boycott the vote in protest at the lack of a viable candidate!

"Lord Sugar"? Really? This guy is a Peer of the Realm and has starred on the British version of "The Apprentice"? This guy would have absolutey no credibility here in the States, not only because of his unfortunate moniker "Lord Sugar" (which is eerily reminiscent of "Lord Haw-Haw"), but because anyone who appears on the American version of "The Apprentice" is a third rate celebrity who will do absolutely anything to garner attention. This is a joke, right? Someone please tell me this is a joke....lol
Rich_Cash: "Lord Sugar"? Really? This guy is a Peer of the
Ronald Reagan was an actor before being President of the USA. Arnold Schwarzenegger (Austrian I believe) is a Senator or was running for Senator, or something like that. Clint Eastwood was/is Mayor of Carmel I think. So dismissing Lord Sugar because he makes a TV program is a bit weak. As is the reference to "Lord Haw-Haw"... who's politics were extreme right wing, whereas Lord Sugar is left wing. OK so 'Lord' is in both names. We have hundreds of Lords in the UK. It's not a title we are unused to. At least Lord Sugar is a self made millionaire with a really sound business mind.

I apologize for being sarcastic about something I really know nothing about. The way the article was presented merely seemed absurd. Arnold was elected Governor of California and served for two terms. Clint Eastwood was merely "Honorary" mayor of Carmel and had no say in the city's policies. I wasn't comapring "Lord Sugar"'s politics with that of "Lord Haw-Haw"'s, it's just that both names lend themselves to hilarity. Anyway, anyone called "Lord Sugar" here in the States would receiv zero credibility, simply because of the cartoonish sound of his name. That doesn't say much for American sensiblities, but nevertheless, it's the truth.
