Technology industry leaders took out a great chunk of spots in TIME's annual list of the top 100 most influential people, released yesterday.
The magazine's readers' poll delivers a who's who and a what's what of the tech, apps, social media and ideas that switched-on tech fans interact with everyday.
Reddit General Manager Erik Martin and the loosely aligned hacker group Anonymous also made the list. Marc Andreessen of Andreessen Horowitz, who pioneered the first popular browser also made the grade.
Anonymous was described by Barton Gellman, contributing editor-at-large for TIME, as: "United, if at all, by a taste for shock humor and disdain for authority, this leaderless Internet hive brain is plundering and playing in the electronic networks of an ever shifting enemies list."
Of Daniel Ek, Spotify founder, Ashton Kutcher wrote: "The Internet has disrupted and will continue to disrupt most industries. Music was one of the first because audio files are so easy to share. What Daniel recognized best is that if you make paying for songs easier than stealing them, people will pay."
Reddit, the website that should by now be a household name, was recognised for its role in making web content go viral, otherwise known as winning at internet. Erik Martin, Reddit General Manager, was described by Allie Townsend as overseeing "the most infectious petri dish around".
