Williams' sister told how he was "conscientious" and couldn't think of why anyone would want him hurt

Spy Gareth Williams was unhappy in London and complained of "friction" at MI6 before he was found dead in a sports holdall, his family have said.

Cycling enthusiast Mr Williams was due to return to the West Country a week after he was found dead because he hated the "rat race" and the "flash car competitions", sister Ceri Subbe said.

She told the inquest into his death she did not believe Mr Williams would let a potential killer in his upmarket London flat, adding: "I cannot emphasise enough his conscientiousness."

MI6 were "dragging their feet" in approving his request in April 2010 to return to GCHQ's Gloucestershire HQ, she added.

Her statement added: "He disliked office culture, post-work drinks, flash car competitions and the rat race. He even spoke of friction in the office."

Ms Subbe also said of her brother: "In terms of a big brother figure, Gareth was perfect."

"It's impossible to do justice to Gareth's impressive character without meeting him."

But "as time went by his enthusiasm began to fade", Ms Subbe said.

MI6 bosses agreed to let him leave on 1 September 2010, but he died only a week before.

The naked and decomposing body of Mr Williams, 31, was found in the bath of his home in Pimlico, west London, on 25 August 2010.

Mr Williams disappearance was noted when he failed to turn up for a meeting at MI6 on 16 August 2010, the inquest heard.

Ms Subbe said she discussed her brother's absence with one of his colleagues.

She said: "He is very conscientious. The person I spoke to agreed, and said Gareth was like a Swiss clock - very punctual, very efficient, and it was very unlike him not to attend a meeting."

Ms Subbe said her brother never told her he was being followed or felt threatened in any way, adding: "I cannot think as to why anybody would want to harm him."

MISSED OUT THIS SENTENCE AT THE BEGINNING OF POST SOMEHOW.
You don't leave a neatly folded pile of clothes on a bed if before or after sex or if it was on the cards.

This rather scotches the initial story of deviant goings on don't you think? If not this, then the death either before or after Mr Williams entered the hold-all, can only be explained in terms of a third party and a criminal act. The absence of DNA or other forensic evidence, points to a very professional operation - but by whom? The fact that our Government agencies sought to put the blame on Mr Williams himself, and so quickly after the event became public, does not inspire confidence in the murky world of espionage, into which apparently he had been enticed. This is yet another high profile case that raises very serious questions about the activities of our, and other’s, secret services and the possible collusion between them.

There a lot of unanswered questions on this side opf the Pond too. Phone hacking, financial thefts, murder attempts, racketeering, individuals lying after conversing through my cell. All not painting a very pretty picture. Ugly as it is. Join me...........................................

There's something strange in the neighbourhood, who ya gonna call, spybusters! This is an intriguing case beset with innuendo, unanswered questions, strange findings and the murky world of espionage.I wasn't there, I know very little about the matter but I do know it would be difficult in the extreme to creep inside a holdall and manage to zip it up on the outside whilst trapped INSIDE. Most holdalls require two hands to zip them up once packed. One hand on the zip and one hand on the bag to gain purchase and leverage. Anyone who has ever zipped a fairly full bag up will know what I mean. So, in that case, there had to have been someone else in that room when GW was zipped into the bag. Do I think we will ever learn the whole truth? Nein, njet, non,no never!

He hated his job so much that he killed himself then zipped himself up in a sports bag and locked it in a cupboard. Case closed.
