Andre Marriner has been chosen as the referee to preside over Manchester City and Manchester United's Premier League clash next Monday.

The duo meet on the 30 April bank holiday Monday in what is a pivotal fixture in the race for the title.

Marriner has not officiated a single City match all season, but has been in charge for three United games - all away from Old Trafford.

Marriner's Premier League debut in 2006 saw him fail to send Michael Brown off:

He has overseen the Reds' 5-0 win at Bolton, 1-1 draw at Liverpool and 2-1 win at Carrow Road against Norwich.

Marriner was the referee who had to deal with the breakout of Luis Suarez racially abusing Patrice Evra when Liverpool hosted the champions in October 2011.
