Sheffield United To Investigate Connor Brown's Twitter Tirade Over Ched Evans Rape Trial

Blades To Investigate Evans Team-Mate's Outburst After Rape Trial

A team-mate of jailed Sheffield United player Ched Evans is to be investigated by the club after comments he made in relation to the striker's rape trial.

Connor Brown launched into an extraordinary foul-mouthed tirade on the social networking site after Evans was sentenced to five years in jail.

Brown branded the law "a load of f*****g s**t", and afterwards drew his ire onto the 19-year-old victim: "If ur a slag ur a slag don’t try get money from being a slag [sic]... Stupid girls... I feel sick."

He also referred to her as a "Money grabbing little tramp."

The posts were consequently deleted but Sheffield United confirmed they are to investigate the public outburst.

A spokesman for the Blades said: "The club is aware of a very serious matter regarding comments made through the Twitter account of one of its players. As a result we have launched an inquiry."

Evans, 23, is the club’s top scorer with 29 League goals this season, and was named League One Player of the Month in March before he was convicted of raping the 19-year-old woman at a hotel after a night out in Rhyl, North Wales, last May.

The former Manchester City academy graduate was also named in the League One team of the year for the season at the PFAs awards ceremony on Sunday night.
