Pacino injured himself on set with Christopher Walken

Al Pacino has injured himself on the set of his new film Stand Up Guys.

The actor, who turns 72 today, hurt his eye earlier this week while shooting a gunfight action scene alongside co-star Christopher Walken.

The film is a comedy that follows two ageing conmen as they try to get their old gang back together again with unforeseen consequences.

Better known for more serious roles like Scarface’s Tony Montana and The Deer Hunter’s Nick respectively, it'll be interesting to see them fare in such comic roles.

Recently we posted a photo of the duo which gives a idea of what to expect...

Funny moments are taken back,
when actors serious face the audience,
but superb actors can create a hum,
when they freely rely on the inward drum.

I recently watched Pacino's "actor's studio" interview. He's such an awesome guy. I hope he's alright.

Walken rocks, even with his pants hitched up to his "grandpa."

I already don't like it and doubt it will be successful. Actors who are desperate to suceed at comedy are generally pathetic. Look at some of the dreck that Dustin Hoffman has been in in an effort to be funny. Not. Pacino should hang up his shoes and retire if he no longer wants to tackle serious dramatic roles any more.

I believe you're wrong on this one. Pacino has exquisite timing, and Walken could be reciting the U.S. criminal code and make it a laugh riot. Hoffman is more of an acquired taste - you have to love his schtick.

How do you make the leap from "he's doing a comedy" to "he no longer wants to tackle serious dramatic roles"?

I think any actor, musician, etc, has the perfect right to try whatever they want to try. You're free to express your opinion, of course, luckily, you don't make the rules.
