The Voice: Rejected Contestant Vince Freeman 'Livid' About Losing To Bo Bruce, After 'Toning Down'

The Voice singer Vince Freeman has said he is "livid" about losing out to aristocrat Bo Bruce on the BBC One show after he was told to "rein in" his performance.

Coach Danny O'Donoghue decided not to take the singing hopeful to the live shows, after viewers watched him tell Vince to tone down his vocals.

Vince, who performs barefoot, told the Gloucestershire Echo: "I am livid about it.

"I was put in a difficult situation - I could go against my mentor, knowing that I would not go through, or I could do as I was told knowing I was having my hands tied behind my back.

"I don't have a problem with Bo but I'm not happy about how the situation was manoeuvred."

Despite failing to make it, the singer said that he has no regrets about taking part in the show.

"For me, The Voice has been a fantastic experience for getting my name out there," he added.

His comments come after another of the show's rejects J Marie Cooper blasted the programme, claiming she was kicked off because of her age.

"The fact that I am 27 should not have even been a factor. It's called 'The Voice' not 'The Age'. I'm stating facts here," she said.

Here are all The Voice's surviving contestants - along with the ones kicked to the kerb (a bit paler)...

The judges have a right to make their decisions but it seems the losers all seem to think they should be the winners.

i didn't watch it, but it's nice to see it gets folks back up like the X factor does.

Like all these type of shows, the whole thing is a total fix from the very beginning anyway, with the eventual winner being decided very early on in the proceedings. I gave up watching these programmes for exactly that reason. However I gave The Voice a chance as it sounded fairer that they couldn't see the person initially, but the last two programmes have proven, in my opinion, about it being a set up too, with several weak singers being put through to the live shows whilst better controlled voices and performances were being sent packing. The way some of the pairings were giving each other dagger stares as they sung daring the partner to ruin the performance chance of the other was quite amusing though.

The Voice is just another show that raises the hopes and quickly dashes them just like the X-Factor , although talented singers on the voice trying to get a break.

The Voice. As the aim is for the winner to go on a tour with their mentor it's all about the image not so much the voice, also I believe the mentors should be blinkered so as not to try to influence each other, such as "You go I'll go" "You need that singer" . It might not be so entertaining, I'm sure they can make their own minds up.

Rather than complain about British TV, can't we stick to the question which was 'Is the show ageist?'

I think the answer is not only is it age-ist, but it is beauty-ist, personality-ist and any number of other '-ist' and is simply a mirror of our general society. The first round was blind-ish. The judges could see the crows reaction, they could hear the act and form a mental picture. Normally more than one person turned around and there seemed to me to be some back-pedalling in their pitches to the singers.

But being a pop-star is not simply about the voice ie Bieber, Minaj...not great singers, but fantastic entertainers (judging from their popularity and success).

For the sake of music , boycott this show and cowells tripe on the other side. Get out and see a band in your local pubs/clubs. Dont let this sort of dross kill off the music industry

this is another cheap tv show, and i am suprised that tom jones put's his name to it.

It gives him exposure. At his age he needs all he can get, regardless.
Look at Englebert. Doing exactly the same with the Eurovision Song Contest even though the song's crap and he hasn't got a cat in hell's chance of winning.
It's all about exposure.

I tuned into the show this week for the first time. I must say that the "talent" wasn't very good and the judges made very poor decisions.

I think this programme is a waste of time, not entertaining and the winner will likely make one record and then will be just a distant memory like the majority of the winners of other talent shows.

Its about time the BBC scheduled some decent programmes. Im fed up of being forced to pay my TV license and the BBC do not deliver!

Never mind Vince, he was too loud anyway. What about Lindsay Butler getting the push? I was a bit gutted about this as she's the best singer I've heard in years. She has a beautiful voice and reminds me of Roy Orbison.

The singers (I use the term loosely ) seem to think that the louder they screech the better they are a complete waste of electricity
