Murder Investigation After Bodies Of Man And Woman Found In Nottinghamshire

A murder investigation has been launched after the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered at a house.

A 64-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were found dead just after 11am yesterday at a house in North Road in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire.

Their deaths are being treated as suspicious and a murder investigation is under way to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths, a spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said.

Their names have not yet been released and formal identification is yet to take place.

Home Office post-mortem examinations into the cause of death are set to be carried out today.

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Meynell, senior investigating officer, said: "A team of detectives are working on this inquiry in order to piece together the chain of events leading up to the deaths.

"At this stage I would like to reassure the community that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."

An incident room has been set up and forensic officers are examining the North Road scene. They are expected to remain there into tomorrow, the force spokesman said.

House-to-house inquiries are being made and cordons are also in place at two other addresses in the area as part of the investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Officers later confirmed that inquires to identify a woman found dead in the River Trent on April 15 led to the discovery of the two bodies.

A police spokesman said detectives were now trying to ascertain if there is a link between the two incidents but had yet to formally identify any of those involved.
