The Voice
The Voice judges Will.i.am and Tom had to say goodbye to the first of their team members on Sunday

The Voice judges Tom and Will.i.am each had to say goodbye to one of their performers on Sunday’s first results show of the series... and the first evictees after the live shows were Sam Buttery and Sophie Griffin respectively.

Cuddly Sam held back tears after Tom chose to send him home. The judge had had to make the excruciating choice of expelling either Sam, or hippy duo Matt and Sueleen, after audiences voted to send Ruth Brown, Leanne Mitchell and Adam Isaac safely through.

Meanwhile, Will was forced to decide between Sophie Griffin and Joelle Moses. Jaz Ellington, Frances Wood and Tyler James were all through without a hitch. The American judge remarked ruefully, "I hate talent shows."

Sam said it felt like his heart had been ripped out, while the surviving duo said it was “a bit gutting” to be in the final two (or three?) after all the work they’d done this far.

I feel for Sam and Sophie but that is what the Voice is all about, what happens on the night. Sam sang an old number from Erasure and whilst it was good it was not great maybe it was a bad song choice but he'll have to live with that and the pair can try the X Factor later in the year.

There isn't much competition. If lovefilm haven't sent anything I prefer to get some work done, the tv is rubbish at the moment. Dave is the best channel. They all appear to be doing a mutual morph into spanish tv and that is bad. Why do film4 put the same Bruce Willis (or whatever) film that everyone has already seen on at 9 oclock and something few people have seen at 1 or 2 in the morning? Why do they do it? Most people don't have recording boxes. Tallent shows, cooking shows, antique shows or house shows and saop operas, is there anything else on tv? It is garbage.

What a stupid thing to say, she's young enough to come back once she has developed with more strength of character, personality & maturity.
