Tributes have been paid to a British aid worker whose body was found dumped in an orchard in Pakistan.

Khalil Dale, 60, was abducted at gunpoint in January while working with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Baluchistan province.

His kidnappers wrote in a note discovered with Dale's body that he been killed as they had not received a ransom.

From Dumfries, Scotland, the 60-year-old had been awarded the MBE for his humanitarian work overseas. Dale, who changed his name from Ken when he converted to Islam, was engaged to be married and had been living in Pakistan for nearly a year.

Friend and former colleague Sheila Howat, who worked with Mr Dale at Dumfries Infirmary and had known him for 25 years, said that: "It's unbelievable what they've done to Ken. It's soul destroying. For someone who has given their life, devoted their life, to caring for others - it's just so wrong."

"Ken was an absolutely lovely person who saw good in everybody. He wanted to make the world a better place for people who had nothing. This is why he went to all the war-torn countries to try to make things better, particularly for the children."

Dale was travelling home from a local school, in a clearly-marked ICRC vehicle, when kidnappers bundled him into a car in the city of Quetta on 5 January.

The identities of his captors are unknown, but the region is home to separatist and Islamist militants who have kidnapped for ransom before.

Prime Minister David Cameron said: "I was deeply saddened to hear about the brutal murder of Khalil Dale - a man who was killed whilst providing humanitarian support to others.

"This was a shocking and merciless act, carried out by people with no respect for human life and the rule of law.

"Khalil Dale has dedicated many years of his life to helping some of the most vulnerable people in the world and my thoughts today are with his friends and family."

Sean Maguire, of the ICRC, confirmed that the organisation had been in contact with the kidnappers but refused to go into details. He said they had a policy of not paying ransoms.

"We said that we had some contact with the abductors but we wouldn't want to give succour to future kidnappers by saying we countenanced paying a ransom," he told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme.

"We did everything possible to try to get Khalil out and we are very sad that our efforts failed.

"We put every effort that we could into liberating him and it is deeply, deeply unfortunate that we did not manage to free him. His death, to our mind, is senseless and barbaric."

Do not tell lies about what the Quran teaches. The Quran teaches us pure justice.

"Allah does not forbid you concerning those people who do not fight you because of your religion, nor expel you from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly.. . . Allah forbids you only concerning those people who fight you for your religion, and drive you from your homes and help others to expel you, that you make friends of them." (60: 8,9)

"O you who believe, be upright for Allah, bearers of witness with justice; and do not let the hatred of a people incite you not to act with justice. Be just; that is nearer to observance of duty." (5:8)

I object to the cruel and harsh sharia law and its barbaric punishments, for instance death by stoning for being gay, and polygamy and the suppression of women, arranged marriages, honour killings if daughters disobey their male relative’s wishes. The terrible practice of female circumcision not required by the Quran, the production of meat in a manner that is unnecessarily cruel to the animals. I worry that in surveys of Muslims, find that many think 9/11 attack and the 3000 that died was justified. I am a alarmed that a study by The Policy Exchange found that 37% of young Muslims want sharia law in the UK, and 36% think you should have your head sawn off, if as a Muslim you convert to another religion. I have read the Quran cover to cover I know that it preaches in many of its verses (62%) hatred & vitriol to all non Muslims and particularly Jews.

When somebody users the lazy term Isalmaphobia like Lady Warsi, I know its someone whose judgement has been corrupted by the political correct and Islamic lobby and wants to silence any debate by non Muslims of Islam, because any criticism of their perfect faith is in its self a sin and therefore not acceptable. I just thank the way things are going I am not female, Jewish or gay or worse still all three, because I would be for the multi chop when we get the Sharia law that so many want?

If Lady Warsi thinks us non Muslims are Islam phobic she is wrong, because phobia means an unrational fear. Well for one my fear of Islam is real and rational and I will tell you why, and PM Cameron shares it to, by the speech he gave the other Saturday.

Every time I put the news on somewhere in the world a bomb has gone off killing men, women & children and wounding many in the name of a Jihadist terrorist version of Islam be it Shiite or Sunni, this morning it’s a French child killer. Our Security Services keep issuing weekly chilling warnings that it is monitoring over 2000 dangerous Muslim fanatics and dozens of active terrorists plots, mostly home grown by UK Muslims, and many educated to the highest level at our Universities. Every day for months our news carries in detail the terrible tales of suffering & carnage that took place when Islamist attacked London Transport, as evidence is given to the Inquest into 52 people that died that day. In fact as I write this the radio has said a bomb has gone off in Syria killing many, it won’t be the Salivation Army that did it?

I couldn't give a damn if lady Warsi thinks us non-muslims are Islamophobic or not.So what if we are Islamophobic, judging by the number of fundermentalists who want sharia law, it's not hard to see why is it.If you look at parts of London, Birmingham, Luton(where i have family and Bradford to name a few cities, you can see the lack of integration and deliberate seperatism of the Muslim community.

Of course, the politically correct leftwing loonies never condemn Islamic extremism but are rabid against the EDL/BNP and accuse them of being Islamophobes and so-forth.If the left actually did their job and campaigned against Islamofacism, there would not be any need for the EDL.I guess it's easier and more PC to pick on Christians and those who oppose sharia law, hence the term "leftwing loonies"

Should never have been there in the first place. We have to stop trying to help countries who do not want to help themsleves.
Stop all overseas aid and stop all so called do gooders putting themselves at risk and expecting this country to bail them out.
Charity begins at home not in some ungrateful money and aid grabbing countries who will never improve whilst the rest of the world bail them out.

The World in Terror.

In the last 4 weeks acts of terror in Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkey, India, China, Pakistan and now France, have left hundreds dead and thousands terribly injured for life, including many women and children, deliberately targeted to increase the horror of the act.

All the above crimes against humanity have one thing in common; they were committed by criminals who claim to do it in the name of Allah. While it is true to say most Muslims are not terrorist, it is also true most of the world’s terrorists are.

Politicians and Islamic spokesmen repeatedly tell us after each new atrocity that Islam is a religion of peace, how does that equate with the unpalatable fact that the perpetrators of terror across the world are Muslims engaged in Jihad or holy war?

The koran tells them to cut of the kuffars head but this chapm had converted, sick dogs.

Do condemn the drone attacks that occur on a daily basis in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen and Somalia? Do you condemn the occupation of foreign lands by Western countries. In essence do you condemn Western terrorism- which is hardly something new? No I don't think so. You don't sound like that kind. You sound like the kettle that called the pot black.

You obviously haven't read the Quran because if you had maybe you would have seen Islam as a beautiful religion of peace-just like our brother Khalil. Killers do not have a particular skin or hair or eye colour.

if you read my many post you would know i have condemed the war in Irqai & Afghainstan and said Blair and Bush should be impeached for war crimianals and for lying to the people.

I have 3 copies of the Quran which i have read from cover to cover, so i know that 62% of it preaches hate against the infedal kuffar like me. The only peace is between fellow Muslims providing they are the same sect, because 10million Muslims have died killing each other since 1948 eg. Sunni V Shia? The reason i have 3 is i couldnt believe the hate i was reading in the first?

i also have hate mail for my posts that state Israel has stolen Palestine with UN help, and should be made to leave at least to the land before the last war?

They are already holding the UK to ransome by saying "If Britain ignores this offer it will bear the consequences of handing Abu Qatada to the Jordanian government"
