Nasa Photos Of The Week: The Milky Way's 100 Billion Planets, Tarantula Nebula, A Dying Star

The Milky Way's 100 billion planets are this week illustrated to show just how common planets are. If you have a hard time imagining planets outside of our own solar system, Nasa shows how this wealth of planets orbits around their host stars.

One of the most spectacular nebulae is the Tarantual. To celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope's orbit, Hubble has released a glorious new image of the star-forming region 30 Doradus, or the Tarantula Nebula.

Stars don't live forever, but it's also a hard task to spot them dying. This image of the Egg Nebula shows a star at the end of its life as it runs out of nucelar fuel.

To get these great images, we need great space craft. Here we have MAVEN's hydrazine propellant tank being prepared at Lockheed Martin, Denver. The Mars Atmosphere And Volatile EvolutioN program, will determine how the loss of atmospheric gas to space played in changing the climate on Mars.
