One Direction's Harry Styles Goes For A Spin In His Flash New Motor

Posted: 30/04/2012 13:40 Updated: 30/04/2012 14:59

It was only last week that One Direction's Niall Horan was moaning about being paid in 'jelly beans' despite conquering the world of pop, but it looks like the boys' have finally hit pay dirt if Harry Styles' new car is anything to go by.

The curly-haired 1D heartthrob did what any teenage lad would do if they were given a pot load of cold, hard cash and splurged it on a sporty little number - an Audi R8 to be precise. A snip at just £100,000.

The singer was snapped in his new toy after popping to the shops near his parent's home in Cheshire and managed to attract the attention of a few fans too. Well, you're not going to go unnoticed in a car like that, are you?

And are we the only ones who feel a bit worried about the baby-faced star speeding about in that thing (0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, top speed of 196mph)? We can't help thinking that a Mini - like the one he passed his test in - would have been a far more practical choice for the 18-year-old.

God, we feel old.

Another soon to be obscure boy band. What has happened to music?
02:12 PM on 05/01/2012
If you wanted to go and get something from the shops why take a car that sticks out like that unless you want to be seen, it is a nice car and good luck to the boy but a mini or something like that would have been a lot better all it said "here I am look at me I get it lots of it". Still young lets hope it keep going for them and they don`t spend all their money after all got to pay your tax`es yet, I would how much SC gets from them after all they sigh to him.

I get why he bought an R8... and I sure would if I had the money.. but still can't help feeling he looks a little silly in it. Sort of makes him look even younger, if that makes sense.

Good choice, he could have splashed the cash on more exotic cars like Lambo or Ferrari but instead he chose a proper car. This shows a sense of maturity, I hope he enjoys the car thoroughly as he will get his money back when he's finished with it in a year. As for jealous remarks on here? come on you would do it if you could. Anyone would. Dont forget whilst you are feeling the pinch, he is doing okay and we should all salute those who do okay of there own back. Its politicians and Bankers you should vent your rath on, not these young lads, and hopefully there one direction is to the top, getting there can be hard.....staying there is the real test. Good luck

At last somebody with a little humility and dignity. I would be ashamed of myself if I thought I was responsible for a lot of the comments below.

The green eyed monster really is out in force today, doing his worst!!

As I say to my children (and I'm assuming most on here are adults so its disappointing to feel the need to say this) take a look at what you have got, not what you haven't got.

No wonder our insurance policies keep going up with a little boy like that driving a mans car. Bet he rights that off within a year and i'm being generous.

It is cars like this- imported and subject to puchase tax. Subject to huge insurance and subject to low MPG that help to boost the economy.
This young man is putting a lot of his 'Earnings' back into the economy.
For all those expecting him to total the vehicle.
Repairs -resprays- will put more money back into the economy. And help keep skilled workers.
There is only 'one direction' to be considered by this article- A boost to the economy.
If only all 18 year old lads or lassies could afford an AUDI R8.
02:09 PM on 05/01/2012
Imported cars/goods take money OUT of our economy stupid! All cars are subject to the same taxes! Anyone with less than 5 years driving experience should be restricted to less than 1000cc - full stop, none of these younsters have any real driving experience so are a REAL DANGER to other road users. Jealous? Not a chance of that, I care not who has what as long as I don't have to pay for it! However because so many youngsters have crashes I have to pay more for my Insurance so that is where I am coming from!

By all means post your one sided opinion. Import tax, petrol duty and repairs all put money and jobs into our economy.
You clearly missed the deliberate pun and the irony of my final sentence.
I have been called 'St*pid' by more intelligent people than you!

Good point, if you do a search for insurance in an Audi R8 for an 18 year at the very least you'll struggle to find an insurer that will ensure someone that age in that car and two, if they do, it will probably be half the cost of the car! And you're right, the more wealthy people spend money the better, 20% VAT alone on an R8 is more tax than many people pay on their entire income.

Common sense really isn't it. Some will dispute common sense even when it is put on a plate for them. Glad you can see the big picture.
10:41 PM on 04/30/2012
I'm not a fan of this group, but good for him! We'd all do it if we could. All the disparaging remarks on here are just jealousy. Enjoy it and have fun. Few people get the chance and if you do grab it with both hands!
06:53 AM on 05/01/2012
Exactly we would all have nice things if money was no object ! enjoy it while you can just put enough by for a rainy day !!! Yes jealousy such a bad vice !!

should wrap it up within two weeks, with a lamp post that is

I have no idea how you work that out, what school did you go to if you subtract 18 from 38 it adds to the same? I wish I Was 18, when I lived in the red road flats I was 18, they are bow ready to demolish them...it deosn't seem so long ago I lived there but yes I Was 18 when I lived there, which makes 20 years ago..yeah my spelling isn't so great but at least I can count. Sorry but what you said makes no sense whatosever...unless you are just hopeless at subtraction...which appears to be the case.

Proud to display your stupidity and evident utter lack of an education we all gather?

Empty vessels do like to make most noise.

What are you on about, I made a comment about the topic and some idiot made a senseless response, telling me that they could not count. Some people should not be allowed to use these discussions. Including You!.
