Each year the results of the prestigious San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants come in - and with top chefs Heston Blumenthal, Claude Bosi and Fergus Henderson in our midst, there's every reason to pay attention.
But, while our guys didn't quite make the top five, Blumenthal did appear as 2012's highest new entry, with Dinner going straight in at No 9 after its opening last February, while The Fat Duck slipped from fifth place to 13th.
The only other British restaurant appearing on the list comes via an Australian chef – Brett Graham's The Ledbury, in London's Notting Hill, which has climbed from 34th place to 14th, writes The Guardian
And, if you want to enjoy the talents of head chef René Redzepi, whose Noma restaurant came in first (for the third year running), the modest Danish 34-year-old will be operating out of Claridge’s in London's Mayfair, for the duration of the Olympics.
According to The Evening Standard, Redzepi will be serving a five-course tasting menu of Nordic cuisine with a distinctive British twist.
