Internet Porn Controls To Be Looked Into By Government

Internet Porn
Controls may be brought in forcing users to 'opt-in' to adult content online

The Government is to consult on tough new measures to protect children from internet pornography.

Under plans being draw up by Downing Street, it would be up to customers to "opt-in" to receiving adult content online when they take out a broadband contract.

Campaigners have argued it is too easy for children to access explicit adult content on their phones and computers.

Currently, parents who want to ensure their children do not have access to internet pornography must opt out of services.

But under the plans, internet service providers (ISPs) will be forced to ask customers if they wish to access sites when they sign up for broadband.

Mr Cameron is due to meet large ISPs to discuss the measures but he is understood to be against even tougher controls on internet porn.

The industry is worth an estimated £3bn a year but the issue has proved sensitive with Conservative MPs.

Tory backbencher Claire Perry has accused internet companies of being "complicit" in exposing children to pornography.

She said ISPs had been "dragging their feet" on reforming the way explicit material is accessed online.

A report by MPs found 77% of women would sign up to a default filter barring pornographic content.

Some Seniors, as well as younger folks, might be interested in this site.
I normally don't pass on any rude or nude stuff (though it depends on what you define as rude).
I accidentally found this site (after looking half the night!).

If you feel that you're old enough and mature enough to handle this.

Parents need to step up on this one. Kids cant get on the internet if you don't provide it to them on a plate. Will it get like Saudi Arabia where any image of a woman is banned unless it goes past the censors first.

Huff Post is censorship in itself. The amount of deleted and not processed comments is a disgrace. If it were unto them the closest scene to porn would be a photo of Mary Poppins.

If parents are worried about what their children are viewing, they should become INVOLVED. I am a parent. I do not need the government to police my children. That is MY job. Where will this nanny state end? People need to have some personal responsibility. I deeply resent Mumsnet and other organisation pretending to speak for me.

I'm sure a number of them already have an in-depth knowledge of it.

I think pornography warps the undeveloped mind. Im 22 now and I started watching it at about 13 and I have never stopped since. Whenever I take someone into the bedroom it ends up like a porn scene. I'm being deadly serious here, kids are growing up thinking porn is what sex is like.

As a parent, I have always considered my responsibility, along with my partner, to provide guidance and protection, allowing freedoms when we believed it was appropriate, this is not the job of the government.
Yes the broadband providers should provide good, user friendly filters to allow people to block access to sites, but in the end I do not want my freedom to chose being restricted by the fact that some parents are unable to use technology.

Parents YOU are responsible for the safety and well being of your children.
