Manchester City Switch From Nike To Umbro As Financial Fair Play Looms

City Just Do It And Swap Umbro For Nike

Manchester City have announced they have swapped current kit manufacturers Umbro for Nike.

The new deal for the club will start from the 2013/14 season, when the Premier League leaders will end a four-year association with Umbro.

Umbro will continue to provide kit for the club until the end of the 2012/13 season, after which the team will be kitted out in Nike, in a contract that runs until 2019.

Nike Brand President, Charlie Denson said: “We’re excited by the opportunity to further develop the relationship between City and Nike Inc, which builds on the successful partnership the club has already enjoyed with Umbro, and reflects both the ambitions of the club and the Nike brand’s position within the world of football."

City are under pressure to break even as financial fair play looms in 2013/14.

Clubs face the threat of expulsion from European competition if they are spending more than their annual income.
