The Voice
Hannah Burley and Ruth Ann St Luce said goodbye to The Voice this week

Hannah Berney may have a voice fit for a Queen (she performed for Her Majesty last week) but she didn’t have what it took to get any further on The Voice.

It was time to say goodbye to two more Voicers on Sunday, with Jessie J and Danny each having to get rid of one more.

From Jessie’s team, it was Toni Warne and Ruth-Ann St Luce who had to compete for their coach’s affections, after Cassius Henry, Becky Hill and Vince Kidd all sailed through on readers’ votes.

In an emotional face-off, Jessie opted to stick with Toni, with Ruth-Ann’s “issues with pitch” very much the deciding factor.

Ruth-Ann had put in two admittedly ‘pitchy’ performances prior to her eviction, but she said she was delighted with the progress she’d made.

“It’s been a crazy rollercoaster, and I’ve learned so much for the judges… life-changing… this is not the end.”

Meanwhile, Danny had to make the difficult choice between Hannah Berney and Max Milner, following the smooth passage of Bo Bruce, Aleks Josh and David Julien.

He eventually opted to keep Max Milner who'd belted out Freefallin', saying he'd seen many changes in him.

Never mind Hannah, the Queen was probably more impressed than Danny. Funny old week.

This week's contestants in action - which one of them do you think is The Voice?

Why is the BBC thinking about bringing in Ms Cole to this show? Why do they need to compete with ITV? Why can't they put something compeltely different to X factor on? Perhaps a decent documentary or a drama, or just bring back dr who and stop fannying around. Why is always lowest common denominator for all british tv at the moment. It is dire across the board.

A real shame that Hannah got heave hoed as she was probably the best looking girl thats been on that stage and she will , in my opinion, be seen in the future making a real name for herself.
Good luck girl.

The idea of the Voice is to find the singer with the best voice. When you have singers of a very high standard but at very different stages of their voice development it's difficult to make a decision but decisions to have to be made. As each of the five singers in each coach group were voted for by the public, it would be interesting to know the votes for each of the pair the coach had the final decision on. Was the coach's decision the same as the publics. At the end of the day the decision was based on the final performance which should have showcased the improvements each singer had made. There were some very young singers there who, with appropriate training and maturity, promise to reach the high standards of the very best.

This is true, somebody loathed by the public could be saved every week by the judge, but I suppose time will tell as the same simngers will be in the bottom 2. Having the results show recorded on sunday is absurd, same with strictly. It should be live on saturday night. It is so easy to find out the result from the people in the audience.

I wouldnt worry about it ... a TV show trying to play at the X Factor ... Its the UK so no point taking it serious.

Go to American and get an honest opinion.

yes, and i was suprised that tom jones put his name to this cheap show.

I watched the first episode of The Voice and wasn't much impressed which was a shame as I tend to watch all these types of programmes and generally love them. I then suffered the next 3 and hoped that when it got to the live finals it would improve and actually engender a modicum of excitement, but sadly I was mistaken. I found the blind auditions were actually the best bit. I am afraid we decided last week that enough was enough and after 5 minutes of the show we turned over and watched a much better nature programme on another channel. The voice now is even less exciting than X factor mainly because the 'Judges' are not doing any Judging. Jessy J talks the talk on interviews, but can only just string a sentence together on the voice, and as for William, what the bloody hell he is talking about half the time God alone knows. I feel very sorry for Sir Tom Jones, I bet if he'd known what he was letting himself in for I he would never have agr4eed to be part of it. And it could have been a really good show too if only........ I feel Tom is being dragged down to a low level, He is much better than a show like this.

At least with x factor you can see and hear top singing acts like JEDWARD progress. Thanks to the fixes that go on there.
10:42 AM on 05/07/2012
Yes Hjohn, but these programmes aren't just about the singing, they are all to do with the entertainment of the process of going through the auditions and being 'Judged' severely, learning to deliver a good performance and getting the constructive (or otherwise) critisism from the judges right through to the final where one person comes out on top. By the way I also hated Jedward and still, to this day don't understand how anyone can like the little twerps!

Don't watch the show, but looking at the photographs above, surely the matching wigs should have meant something in the judging stakes. Where are peoples priorities?

He might be but he is at last not in control and I hope they all get a contract. There is a world out side of SIMON !!!
09:06 AM on 05/07/2012
Yes, and so there might be, but there is a much better one inside his world as he brings such good value entertainment to our screens, and also is a very generous and kind man, lets not forget thaht!

I dont like The Voice. It hasnt grabbed me in the slightest. I watched it for the second time this weekend and was totally irritated with the 'journeys' and the 'you've made it your own's' and a few other stock sayings! The mentors all look bored stiff just as I was. The show just hasnt got the Xfactor - 'scuse the pun!

Sorry but this show at least delivers some good coaching - can Simon Cowel Sing? I look forward to iy!

Rofl! 'Good coaching', how can you say that when Will. I. am wasn't around for almost a week for his lot.
08:40 AM on 05/07/2012
VegPlot, Why does Simon Cowell need to sing? You can tell a good singer by listening. A good act by watching etc You don't actually need to be able to do it yourself! Anyway, remember Will I am's 'performance' on XFactor with his finalist? It was totally dire, out of sync, out of tune and monumentally flat. He let his act down and the viewers agog! Simon Cowell is a very rich man merely because he has found and managed many excellent acts over the years - if he wasn't good at his job he wouldnt be rich would he! Like him or hate him, he's good at his job!
