Think Before You Ink: Two Thirds Regret Holiday Tattoos

Two in three young tourists who have tattoos on holiday later regret it, according to a travel agent poll.

An increasing number of young people are getting the permanent artwork inked on their body, but 67% wished they hadn't, sunshine.co.uk found.

Based on responses from 1,790 holidaymakers aged 18-25, the survey showed that 19% had had a tattoo on a trip abroad.

Of these, 65% were women, while 67% of those who had come home with a tattoo said they regretted having it.

The most popular design for a holiday tattoo was stars, followed by a motto or phrase, followed by a heart.

Although only 19% had had a tattoo, as many as 54% said they knew someone who had had one on holiday.

Sunshine.co.uk co-founder Chris Clarkson said: "Getting a tattoo on holiday might seem like a good idea at the time, but the number of people that were found to have regretted doing so in this poll just goes to show that it might not be the best choice."
