Will Sarkozy's loss to Hollande sign an end to public life for the Sarkozys?

With Nicolas Sarkozy losing his premiership to socialist leader Francois Hollande, speculation is rife as to where life will take him and his glamourous Italian-French wife Carla Bruni.

Sarkozy has yet to indicate whether his defeat will mean a step back from public life and frontline politics, and it may be hard for the two to maintain a private life when one of them is a globally-recognised model, actress and singer.

The two have a child to raise together and will take their time deciding where to go now. In the mean time, observers have been taking to Twitter to speculate on the couple's future.

Besides infidelity rumours, there have also been rumours that one of the couple hasn't taken too well to the aging process of public life.

Twitter has been alight with jokes at the expense of Sarkozy, quipping that Bruni-Sarkozy will likely leave the man now he is no longer in power. However Bruni has always insisted that she is deeply in love with Sarkozy, calling their love story "a fairy tale."

Their unlikely marriage has come into question before, with both of them heavily denying rumours they have had affairs, and it will be interesting to see where the loss of the presidency will take the couple.
