The biggest names in music, film and fashion hit the red carpet last night for New York's most glamorous (and seriously stylish) red carpet event - the Schiaparelli And Prada: Impossible Conversations Costume Institute Gala, aka the Met Gala 2012.

The dresses were bigger and better than ever before, with Beyonce leading the way, after a few months off from the red carpet, in a crystal embellished, feather gown by Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci.
Sensibly, she left her hair and makeup simple and chic with a slicked-back ponytail and a neutral, glossy shade on the lips.
