David Cameron Or David Brent? Miliband Slams Prime Minister's Job Strategy

David Cameron Or David Brent?

David Cameron or David Brent? That was the question posed by Ed Miliband on Wednesday as he tore into the government's plans for the coming year.

The Labour leader sized upon comments by the prime minister yesterday that what some people called "austerity" he called "efficiency".

Miliband told MPs: "So here it is from the Prime Minister, Cameron Direct, to the hundreds of thousands of people being made redundant:

"The bad news is: you’ve lost your job. The good news is: you’re a key part of our efficiency drive."

He added: "In two years, this prime minister has gone from David Cameron to David Brent.

The joke went down pretty well on the Labour benches and came during one of Miliband's best parliamentary speeches since he became leader.

HuffPost is unsure if the joke works on close inspection, but the idea that the PM is a bad boss of the nation's workforce fits nicely with the theme Labour has been pushing. Hopefully any similarities stop before 'that' dance.
