Fernando Zylberberg, Argentinian Hockey Player In Falklands Advert, To Miss London 2012 Olympics

Argentinian Ad Man Zylberberg To Miss Olympics

Fernando Zylberberg, the Argentinian hockey player who appeared in a provocative Falklands advert, is to miss the Olympics.

Zylberberg filmed the advert on a British memorial he was working out on in preparation ahead of London 2012 with the boast: "To compete on English soil, we are training on Argentine soil."

However the 34-year-old has been left out of a pre-Olympics hockey tournament, meaning he will almost certainly be overlooked for this summer's Games.

The propaganda advert was labelled "tawdry and cowardly" by Falklands veteran Simon Weston, and is now expected to be withdrawn from Argentine TV screens.

Zylberberg was expected to make the cut for his third Olympics, but his participation is improbable after exclusion from the 18-man squad which will take part in a 10-day Malaysian tournament.

He had received threats on social networking sites for starring in the advert.
