It's an emotion familiar to all parents, and one that most of us only share with our partners, family and loved ones.
But Jessica Simpson has chosen to tell 5,082,832 of her closest friends on Twitter: "I am so in love with baby Maxwell. I want to cry every time I look at her."
And she added: "Motherhood is by far the best thing I've ever experienced."
Ah, sweet! But we can forgive her such gushing sentimentality. After all, Maxwell Drew is only a week old and mum is still experiencing post-birth euphoria.
Give it a few weeks, though, and the 31 year-old singer and actress may be crying for a different reason – tiredness!
Jessica and her sportsman fiance Eric Johnson welcomed their little girl, weighing in at 9lbs 13lbs, on May 1.
In a statement on her official website, she wrote: "We are so grateful for all of the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!"
