The London-born celebrity hairdresser, Vidal Sassoon, has died at his home in Los Angeles, aged 84. Last year it was reported that Sassoon had been suffering from Leukemia.

At 17, he started an apprenticeship in a barber's shop in East London, before going on to train in Mayfair and open his own Bond Street salon in the 1950s. However, his rise to fame came in the 60s when he styled actress Nancy Kwan's hair into his signature geometric bob.

Sassoon also pioneered the five-point-cut on Grace Coddington and created Mia Farrow's infamous pixie cut for her role in Rosemary's Baby. That's not to mention his line of haircare products, his Vidal Sassoon Acadamies and the CBE he was awarded in 2009.
