It amazes me that some people who are able to pay for proper security, such as top level security officers and guard dogs don't normally employ them.

With the official police response time of 12 mins and cutting over 5000 police officers from the UK Streets. The police are not going to help them.

This family got off lightly some poeple are attacked or raped or kidnapped, think of their poor 3 year olds safety.

In the UK if you tangle with buglers and are able to deal with them properly, you'll be arrested and normally given a harsher sentence than the burgulars.

Asians households are being targeted specifically for their high quality jewellry.

Anyone who has an appearance of being wealthy may well already be under monitoring to be robbed.in the near future.

John Terrys home was attacked at Christmas, but he had extra security in place due to the racism row, and the security staff chased the robbers away

Peter Crouch was hit at the same time, but was robbed blind, If I were on over 100k per week I'd have security staff at my premises.

Another home was robbed in South London recently and the retired business man who owned the house had a heart attack and died during the robbery.

If you can afford effective security you should get it in place asap.

I'm not sure you understand the financial position of the family well enough to be able to say what the can and can't afford.

Yet again, self righteousness in the comments columns. You've read a story and you instantly know why it went wrong, what the people didn't do that they should have done and what needs to be done to put it right.

I'm guessing you don't work in the security business or the police, you don't know any crime statistics for the area where this happened and you don't know the disposable income of the family yet you know all too well where they went wrong and what they should have done to prevent it. If only one those peices of information is missing, your comments are invalid.

You are correct that I don't know about her families disposable income. Due to her and her husbands acting TV & theatre and her advertisining contract with Avon. Their income will be much more than the average. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

Your guess that I don't work in security is totally incorrect. I don't need crime stats to know how to secure a clients home, business or thier person.

I know I am going to get blasted, but she doesn't come over as being too concerned that she and her 3 year old daughter are safe thank goodness. Just a list of items and she even manages to put in the brand names...

If they broke into my place they wouldn't find expensive gadgets lying around. Reminds me when Cilla Bllack said she had thousands of pounds worth of jewellery stolen from her home.
Who would leave all that stuff just lying around? Surely these rich people have safes?
Insurance payouts rings a bell, or am I too cynical?
