BGT: Jonathan And Charlotte Reveal 'Split' Chat

When Jonathan Antoine and Charlotte Jaconelli took to the stage for the final of Britain's Got Talent, it was a triumph of, not just singing, but their deep friendship, which was tested in the first round of the contest.

The pop-opera duo have admitted they were ready to split up and go it alone when they first appeared on the show.

The pair, who were hot favourites to win the live final, resisted Simon Cowell's attempt to make Jonathan a solo act after their first audition.

But Charlotte said: "We had a conversation before and we were kind of like 'If they ask one of us to leave the duo how would we deal with it?'"

The teenager from Ilford, east London, said: "If they give you the choice and it is your actual choice, then OK, then stay together, but if it's kind of on your own or nothing then go, because why would you miss an opportunity like that?"

The pair were 4/5 on with bookmakers William Hill to win the ITV1 talent show with dancing dog Pudsey and partner Ashleigh second favourites.

Also in the final were synchronised swimmers Aquabatique, Welsh choir Only Boys Aloud, Irish singer Ryan O'Shaughnessy and boy band Loveable Rogues.

They competed against singer Sam Kelly, Welsh dance group Nu Sxool, ballroom dancers Kai and Natalia, and 11-year-old singer Molly Rainford.

The winner will perform at the Royal Variety Performance and receive a cheque for £500,000.
