I watched the 'Top of the Pops 1977' thing on Saturday and I was minutes away from self-harming.
Between Glitter's creepy, camp performance of a song I don't even remember to David Soul's "Don't Give Up On Us, Baby" and Leo Sayer's "When I Need Love", I'd forgotten the level mediocrity to most of the late-Seventies dreck managed to sink.
And then there was Noel Edmonds as host.
The only thing worth listening to was Thin Lizzy's "Don't Believe A Word" which was genius.

There was a campaign this year for it not to be played at the superbowl. Didn't watch it or go so don't know whether it went ahead or not! If so then needs to be made more public in the USA!
