Tributes Paid To 6-Year-Old Girl Killed On Her Birthday

The death of a six-year-old girl in a car accident on her birthday on Saturday has left a "gaping hole" in their lives, her parents have said.

Daisy May Brooks, celebrating outside her home in Wolverhampton when she was struck by a Honda Civic died of her injuries after being taken to hospital on Saturday.

In a statement released by West Midlands Police, Daisy's family, including her mother Helen Brooks, described the schoolgirl as funny, cheeky and always happy.

The statement said: "Daisy's death has left a gaping hole in our lives. We are amazed at how much one little girl touched so many people's hearts.

"We would like to thank everybody for their support - family, friends, all the staff at New Cross Hospital, and the police officers."

The driver of the Honda Civic involved in the incident in Warstones Drive, Wolverhampton, was not arrested but has been spoken to by police officers, who are seeking witnesses.
