Pirates
Three raids have been carried out over the ship's seven month tour

A Royal Navy frigate has undertaken three counter-piracy operations during a seven-month deployment in the Indian Ocean.

Portsmouth-based HMS Westminster raided vessels which had been used by pirates in hijacking attempts on ships travelling through the area.

The early morning operations by the Type 23 frigate involved the warship's boarding teams being supported by a Merlin helicopter as they targeted the vessels, detained suspects and destroyed equipment.

A navy spokesman said: "Using the Merlin's powerful sensors, on each occasion we found the suspected pirates and identified weapons, excessive fuel, ladders and more people than you would expect to find for any other purpose in small boats, hundreds of miles from land in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

"Faced with an overwhelming display of force, the suspected pirates immediately surrendered."

When u wanna destroy someone, you first make them the boogyman and what better boogyman than an african. After all its just an African. Becareful boys and girls, Africa has 47% of the worlds richest resources and one day they will figure it out. Good luck boogymaker

No. Different times, different priorities. The English adopted piracy as a defense against the overwhelming size of the Spanish Navy and its attempt to control all commerce in the atlantic. They organized an funded people who had ships as a sort of floating vigilante force to protect their merchmat fleets and harass the spanish economically and politically.

These Pirates have got to keep up with the times and ditch their swords and stop swashbuckling and get themselves a big ship with bazookas.

Interesting that nobody has mentioned that these pirates have no other method of making a living. European fishing fleets have caught all their fish. The country is lawless and the problem requires solutions that are a little more constructive than simply "blowing them out of the water". Exciting though that prospect may seem.

Why is it always the Royal Navy that has to do all the dirty work?
These pirats or just rats should be taken to an Islamic country and let them stand trial and punishment there, They would't have hands to commit anymore piracy.

When are they moving to UK - everything is ready for them.
