Diamond Jubilee: Queen Hosts King of Bahrain And Other Sovereigns At Windsor

Queen Hosts Diamond Jubilee Royal Lunch For Twenty Six Sovereigns

The Queen hosted a royal lunch for Kings and Queens from around the world at Windsor Castle today, as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The sovereigns of 26 countries were treated to a very British menu with the emphasis on locally sourced produce.

A starter of tartlet of poached egg and asparagus was followed by new season Windsor Lamb with braised potatoes, artichokes, peas, carrots, broad beans, cabbage, and a tomato and basil salad.

Strawberries from Kent were served with vanilla Charlotte for desert.

The sovereigns attending included the Emperor of Japan, the King of Sweden and the Crown Prince of Thailand.

More controversially, the guest list also included the King of Bahrain and the King of Swaziland, both of whom have attracted criticism from human rights groups.
