Rod Stewart Named As Simon Cowell's Stand-In X Factor Judge

Rod Stewart has signed up as a stand-in judge on Simon Cowell's The X Factor as the music mogul races to find a replacement for Kelly Rowland, according to a report.

The Destiny's Child superstar appeared on the show's panel last year, but ruled herself out of a return for a second series.

This year's auditions are set to take place next week, but Cowell only has three judges signed up - Take That star Gary Barlow, singer Tulisa Contostavlos and music manager Louis Walsh.

He has now reportedly persuaded legendary star Rod Stewart to sit on the panel for several auditions while he finds a full-time judge.

A source tells The Mirror: "Rod is a genuine living legend and exactly what the show needs.

"The details are still to be ironed out but it looks like he'll be at the auditions next month in London and possibly Glasgow because of his Scottish heritage.

"He's sold more than 100 million records worldwide so he knows exactly what it takes to succeed in the tough world of showbusiness, and hopefully he'll also be a big draw for viewers who might not have been fans of The X Factor before."

Katy Perry has been rumoured to be negotiating a deal to sign up for the show after impressing viewers as a guest judge in 2010.
