Olympic Torch To Be Replaced By Comedy Relighting Candle

Following embarrassment after the Olympic torch went out on just its third day, London 2012 Olympic Games organisers have replaced it with a giant trick candle.

"It immediately relights itself," explained a LOCOG spokesman."We don't know why we didn't think of it earlier."

"Now it doesn't matter if it's windy, rainy, or if an eight-year-old tries to blow it out," added Olympics Chairman Lord Ovett.

So far, the original torch - modelled on a large brandy snap - has been carried by the illustrious likes of Sir Boris Johnson, Sir David Beckham and Sir Princess Anne, as well as by mere peasants.

It has now been melted down to make commemorative gold medals for corporate VIP guests of Samsung, Lloyds TSB and Coca-Cola.
