Jeremy Paxman At Leveson: Newsnight Presenter's Best Bits (VIDEO)

Paxman Goes To Leveson: Here Are His Finest Moments So Far

The Leveson inquiry has already had its fair share of tough interviewees, from Rupert Murdoch and Rebekah Brooks to Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre. But drama at the hearing into press ethics is likely to move to a new level of drama with the appearance of the BBC's Jeremy Paxman.

The Newsnight and University Challenge presenter has gained a reputation for his irritable, determined interviewing style, which annoys guests and makes for entertaining viewing.

Whether it's grilling political luminaries such as George Galloway, Peter Mandelson or Nancy Dell'Olio, Paxman is always excellent at gaining the upper hand and keeping his interviewers on the back foot.

That should put him in good stead for his evidence session before Robert Jay QC and Lord Justice Leveson.

He also is known for being something of a grump, banning Christmas trees on the Newsnight set and laying into his employer over its decision to sell off the Television Centre. The Huffington Post UK is expecting barbs to be traded, plenty of frustrated comments and very frank discussions over Paxman's views on the state of the press.

In the mean time, we shall have to make do by refreshing ourselves with some of his finer moments.
