The Voice judge and Black Eyed Peas singer Will.I.Am carried the Olympic flame during the procession in Somerset - even managing to sneak in a moonwalk.

The star was cheered on by thousands of people as he trotted through Taunton carrying the torch, occasionally breaking into a half-hearted run. The US-born music producer was a surprise addition to the line-up on day three of the relay. He told the BBC: "This feels like a dream. It's something that you always saw on TV growing up and to be here today in the UK, it's great."

Will.I.Am hadn't seemed to have learned his lesson from The Voice, as he appeared to be texting during the relay.

I had to read this twice to let it sink in. Who in hells name picked this twit to carry a torch? Although I'm a fan of the Olympics and wished the French had won the bid, there must of surely been a more worthy local person to carry the torch than this guy.

Did they run out of Brits? Thought this was the British Olympics so why is an American carrying the torch? Needless the say he wasn't carrying it with pride but busy texting intead.

If these are the standards of the Olympic Committe I just hate to think what we have to look forward to particularly when I cringingly remember the fiasco of our intro to Britain at the last games.

You really don't know this farce of a mentor on the Voice? He was good at texting but not mentoring. What his connection with the British Olympics is I have no idea. We must have a responsible British person to have this honour.

Taunton, you say. That's amazing! Thank you for keeping us informed about the progress of these tacky torches. It is a great help and takes our minds off the important things that matter which appears to be one of the main features of the media at the present time.

We have not worn the World cup in foot ball in recent years but we have manegd a few olympic medals. Where are those heroes who won olympic medals in those days of scarcity when Uk was competing against USSR, China, USA.Those days of Steve Ovete, Cole,Lynford Christi Akabusi, The great Daley Thompson. Where do these people feature in this London Olympic, all we have been seeing on the TV are Lord Cole, David Becks , Tessa Gyles., Boris Johnson etc.
