Reunited: David Hockney To Meet Queen At Royal Academy Of Arts

Reunited: Hockney And The Queen Meet Again

The Queen will meet David Hockney for the second time in two days during a trip to the Royal Academy of Arts today.

The artist will be among those giving citations to outstanding students during the royal visit, while the Queen will present Diamond Jubilee Awards to those who have made a special contribution to national culture.

The Queen will be reunited with Hockney a day after presenting him with the Order of Merit at Buckingham Palace.

But this time they will meet on his home turf rather than her own, as the Academy recently staged his hugely successful exhibition A Bigger Picture.

The Queen will be greeted by the presidents of the Royal Academy of Arts, Dance, Music and Dramatic Art and will meet artists and musicians during a tour of the galleries.

Also delivering citations to students alongside Hockney will be choreographer Matthew Bourne, actor Sir Derek Jacobi, singer Dame Kiri te Kanawa and designer Sir Jonathan Ive.

Sir Jonathan, who is senior vice president of industrial design at Apple, will be made a Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (KBE) for services to design and enterprise at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace earlier in the day.
