"To carry the Olympic torch is, I don't know if there are enough words to describe it," the 34-year-old said.

"My only disappointment is that I can't do the Olympic Games."

He plays for a British football club and won a british team the european champions league, apart from that he is a gentleman who has a great heart and has contributed so much to his own country also> the ivory coast. I think he desrerved his place in the torch carrying relay he is a remarkable person.

I was under the belief that this was a BRITISH EVENT!! how many other no-brits are involved? My other question is how come so many cops are needed for a gas lantern? a fireman maybe but its not as if the thing is really made of Gold. Or is it a Health & Safety issue?
This Torch relay looks completely over the top, does it really take all those cars/people ?
