John Ruddy Out Of England Squad For European Championship, Jack Butland Replaces Him

Ruddy Hell, John's Out Of England Squad

John Ruddy has withdrawn from England's European Championship squad after he suffered a broken finger in training on Thursday.

The Football Association said: "Ruddy was assessed by the England medical staff and will not be able to be part of the tournament. He will travel with the squad to Norway on Friday and watch the game on Saturday evening, but return to his club after arriving back in England."

The Norwich City goalkeeper will be replaced by rookie Jack Butland, 19, who spent the 2011/12 season on loan at Cheltenham Town.

Butland plays for Birmingham City but is yet to make an appearance for the Championship side.

He was listed on standby ahead of former Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Scott Carson, who made 34 appearances for Turkish side Bursaspor last season.
