Even if your quest to assume the wizarding powers of Harry Potter hasn't taken you as far as purchasing an authentic wand and marauders' map, you might still be interested in the announcement of a new game promising to take the world of magic and make it slightly more real.

Harry Potter Kinect is a new, family-oriented, game for the motion-controlled Xbox 360 peripheral, which promises to give you the chance to shout 'wingardium leviosa', wave your hands around and have something happen on the TV screen - yes, as if by magic.

The game, announced by Microsoft and Warner Bros, looks set to recreate various scenes from the movie and navigate them with a selection of flicks, jumps and waves. You know, just like the real wizards.

Gamers will also be able to upload their images and create their own wizards, complete with wands, houses, battles with He Who Must Not Be Named, and all the other wizarding whatnot you might expect.

"Harry Potter for Kinect will engage Harry Potter fans old and new by bringing them into the wizarding world as truly active participants," Warner Interactive's senior VP of production and development Samantha Ryan said in a press release.

""Kids and parents will enjoy recreating their favourite Harry Potter adventures, from flying a broomstick in a Quidditch match, to battling pixies and duelling other wizards."

Let's hope that developers Eurocom take it upon themselves to add a dance-off mode, as appeared in the otherwise disappointment Star Wars Kinect. (First one to make Hagrid do a head spin wins.)
