Apple has announced the date of its next major keynote, where it is expected to unveil the next version of its mobile OS.

The date to mark is Monday, 11 June at 6pm UK time (10 am in California), where Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to speak at the Worldwide Developers' Conference (WWDC).

Little details are known about what Apple will announce at the show, but it is likely to include details of iOS 6.

Apple has previously used the WWDC keynote to announce new iPhones - but it is unlikely to do so this year after announcing the iPhone 4S in October 2011.

The full schedule for the conference can be found at Apple's website.
