Jailed Evans Released By Sheffield United

Jailed rapist Ched Evans has been released by his club, Sheffield United.

The footballer is serving five years in prison after being convicted in April of raping a woman who was "too drunk to consent" to sex.

A former Manchester City academy graduate, Evans scored 35 goals in 42 games last season for the Blades.

However the club have drawn criticism for failing to sack the disgraced striker in light of his conviction.

The 23-year-old's co-defendant, Port Vale defender Clayton McDonald, was found not guilty of the same charge.

Both men admitted they had sex with the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, but the prosecution said she was too drunk to consent to sexual intercourse.
